2022 Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition

The City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs presents the 2022 Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition, on view May 27-June 12. This annual juried art exhibition highlights the recent work of artists across South Carolina featuring painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, and photography. Artworks receiving prizes are presented alongside a limited selection of pieces identified by the juror as meriting display. This year’s juror is Marie Carladous.

Originally from Nice, France, Carladous moved to Charleston in 2011 where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from the College of Charleston, with a focus on darkroom photography. Marie was a part of several group shows in the years following her graduation, amongst which Jail Break, Pedal and Panache, and the Redux Artists in Residence Exhibits. In 2018, Marie created her analog photography company, THE FRENCH DARKROOM, and was selected to create artwork for the Charleston Food and Wine Festival. She also has had solo exhibits, including “My Charleston” in 2018 at the Redux Contemporary Art Center, and “An Exploration of Analog Photography” in 2022 at the Park Circle Gallery. In 2021, her photography was featured in Studio Visit Magazine. That same year, Marie also opened the GAP GALLERY, an itinerant platform for emerging artists.

City Gallery will be open every day of the festival – May 27 through June 12 – from noon until 5pm.
