A Dialogue in Black and White Dinner
May 31, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
$5064 diverse, visual artists, partnered by theme as duos – one person of color and one white – have created separate works that reflect the issues of our time, including Disparity, Community, First Amendment, Mental Health Awareness, Black Lives Matter, Rape Culture, Body Image, Spirituality, Homelessness, Environmental Racism and other emotionally-charged or challenging topics.
This is an exhibition that pointedly aims to facilitate meaningful conversations among viewers,” explained the show’s curator, Torreah “Cookie” Washington. “The works are tremendously thought-provoking and eye opening,” she said. “I believe A Dialogue in Black and White will get people talking and connecting, and I hope it will move us closer to mutual understanding.”
To further inspire the meeting of minds, three ticketed-event dinners and a brunch will take place at the exhibition; members of the public are invited to break bread together, and engage in discourse that connects, challenges and enlightens. In order to assure the most engaging dialogue, diners will be seated at random, not necessarily with the guests they came with.
Tickets are $50 per person (plus any applicable fees), and can be purchased at City Paper Tickets.
